Liposuction May Help African American Patients Avoid Scarring

Reports have shown that many African American women who would otherwise have a breast reduction surgery are choosing not to, because of the amount of scarring that would be apparent on their skin. Because scars tend to be less forgiving on darker skin tones, many African American women are instead suffering with overly large, sagging breasts. This can cause back problems and other adverse health concerns.

Luckily for these women, however, surgeons have found a way to remove excess fat and breast tissue by means of liposuction. This technique is less invasive than a traditional breast reduction, but it does not provide the lift. To perform any sort of lift, an incision must be made.
